About the Society
The Guoqinge Society, named by Qin Hui, is a nonprofit legal entity established in May 2025 in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It supports the academic research, teaching, publishing and public engagement of Qin Hui and Jin Yan. The Society runs the Qinchuanyanta YouTube channel, develops the Guoqinge book series and coordinates lectures, study tours and publishing projects. It also provides limited assistance with the scholars’ basic living needs.
Our beginnings
Following Qin Hui’s retirement in 2017, he and Jin Yan delivered public lectures and lecture series and designed numerous study tours from 2018 onward. Volunteers recorded and edited the talks and tours, organized the recordings, and transcribed, proofread and compiled written materials.
In 2023, donations from two supporters made preparations possible. A nonprofit academic-support project began on 1 July 2024 as a transitional initiative focused on Qin Hui’s scholarship and public engagement, without living assistance. Staff reported to the board through monthly activity reports and quarterly financial reports. In May 2025, the legal entity 一般社団法人過秦閣学会 was established in Shinjuku, Tokyo, bringing the project into regular operation and allowing limited consideration of both scholars’ basic living needs.
Our mission
Qin Hui’s scholarship ranges across China and the wider world, history and the present, guided by independent inquiry and an enduring commitment to truth. We hope to help him devote his attention to research and keep the transmission of ideas alive. Members of the Society work together with integrity, seek common ground, uphold essential principles, defend democracy and put freedom into practice.
